Why you will love it?

Warhol Unlimited is dedicated to Andy Warhol’s series. And what better way to illustrate repetition and variation than in his masterpiece Shadows, a sequence of 102 paintings created by Andy Warhol in 1979.  It is made up of 2 abstract photographs of printed shadows placed on top of painted backgrounds. This monumental masterpiece is the climax of the exposition, shown for the first time outside of the United States. More Warhol masterpieces on the theme of repetition and variation will be exhibited to complete Shadows

Our Insiders' Article

Warhol Unlimited

The repetition of a pattern while varying a few elements like color or the grandeur of the work at the same time, is the main theme of the Warhol Unlimited Exhibition. Between paintings, sculptures or videos, Andy Warhol (1928-1987) used the idea of repetition to create his art. The Campbell’s Soup can, the wallpaper with a cow head on it, or the portrait of Mao are the best examples shown here that demonstrate the artist’s creativity and his reflection on the way in which art can be exhibited.

Highlights

Without a doubt, the flagship work in Warhol Unlimited is the monumental “Shadows,” at the end of the exposition. It is made up of no less than 102 paintings. With 17 colors, 700m² of space and a length of 130m, it is the largest work of Warhol.

Besides the painted and sculpted collections of Andy Warhol, the exposition also includes some video projections (“Empire,” which lasts 8 hours) and a room dedicated to an audiovisual experience (Velvet Underground).

Conclusion

This exposition speaks to everyone. For those who are interested in the art of Warhol, Warhol Unlimited is a unique chance to discover his works, and particularly Shadows, which very rarely leaves the United States!

For the curious, it is always exciting to discover one of the most well known contemporary artists in the world. His form of art will maybe not please everyone, but the room dedicated to Shadows will surely leave a lasting impression!
