Why you will love it?

There is no other way to put it, Paris WAS an expensive city for accommodation. Why the past tense? Because since January 2015, the biggest hostel in Europe has opened its doors to young and budget travelers. Generator, which already has hostels in other parts of Europe, will be welcoming 920 people daily from all over the world in its chic and trendy giant hostel located near Gare du Nord. No doubt, cheap is great. Enjoy! Parisianist.

Our Insiders' Article

Generator, the English hostel brand, is a great example how the present can turn into the past in a snap. When it comes to accommodation, Paris IS not an expensive city anymore. It WAS! Generator opened its Parisian hostel in January 2015, which has become the biggest hostel in Europe, with a capacity of 920 guests. The 198 rooms are generally shared rooms, but there are also twin rooms (some with a nice terrace) and even a suite!

The shared rooms (4/6/8/10 beds) have 2 showers, storage space (bring your own padlock) and each bed is equipped with a USB input, a socket and a reading light. In the girl's rooms, a few chairs make each room a great place to socialize and meet fellow travelers. Bring your own towel and shower amenities or pay a supplement to rent them. Prices start at 25€ per bed per night.

The 2 bedded rooms are similar to 3 star hotel rooms, toiletries included. Prices start at 49€ per night per person.

Restaurants and Bars

The restaurant is located on the ground floor and offers both classic international food (hamburgers, pizza...) and some French specialties (snails, dried ham…). It is self-service and the prices are quite unbeatable.

In the basement, the former parking lot has been transformed into a bar, decorated in the spirit of the Parisian Metro (white tiles, metro pictures). Guests can have a drink and enjoy the live DJ music or watch the main international sporting events on giant screens.

On the first floor, the Moroccan lounge is the perfect area to relax, have a drink, read, socialize or play a game of pool or ping pong.

All these areas are (for now) restricted to the guests or friends of guests.

A great and very handy service that Generator offers to its guests is a concierge service. At the concierge desk at the entrance of the hotel, you will be able to make all the necessary reservations you want or buy tickets to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower in order to avoid the long queues.

Generator is located on Place du Colonel Fabien in the North of Paris, not too far away from the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est railway stations.

Parisianist Deadly Detail: Pierre Georges, a WWII resistant also known as Colonel Fabien, died a tragic death. He found a German mine and brought it back to his office. Claiming he knew the model, he decided to manipulate it but in the process, he triggered it…
