Intro

Alain Ducasse is one of the most famous chefs in the world, owning 3 restaurants with 3 stars each. There is but one word to describe all his restaurants: excellence. Each ingredient, each cooking technique, the presentation, the décor, everything is focused on excellence. So saying that Le Meurice is good and beautiful would certainly not be enough… it’s perfect. The clientele has also to reflect a certain distinction, and a suit is therefore compulsory (the tie is recommended). With all these distinctions, Le Meurice is quite selective, and the prices are affordable only by the elite.

Food

“Before the kitchen, there is Nature”. More than a statement, it’s a culinary philosophy. Ingredients of the utmost quality, details pushed to perfection and the rejection of the superfluous are the essential conditions for an excellent cuisine. Cookpot Lobster, a Ducasse signature dish, is a mélange of only 2 ingredients: lobster and sea apples, cooked slowly together. The wine list comprises of essential classics and lesser known top quality vintage wines that have captured the Chef’s attention.

Decor

Inspired by the Salon de la Paix, a luxurious room in the Château de Versailles with crystal chandeliers, magnificent bronze statues and frescos, the interior of Le Meurice is by itself a sight to see. The perfect balance between old and new is brought by the table dressing, where the crockery is stylish and contemporary. There are many original creations to be found here, such as the “Volute” plate by Pierre Tachon, or the crushed bowl in shades of brown and gray designed by Shinichiro Ogata. Some furniture elements are also priceless items that all add up to offer the excellence of the venue.

Ambiance

Hospitality is very important in all of Ducasse’s restaurant. Delicate and distinguished, the guests are offered a glass of chilled water and a small plate of gently cooked vegetables. The message is crystal clear: not only will you enjoy the food, the personnel will do their utmost to have you spend an unforgettable moment.

Conclusion

Everything at Le Meurice calls back to Alain Ducasse’s quest for excellence: an impeccable service, the menu, the decor… Christophe Saintagne (Chef) and Frédéric Rouen (Restaurant Manager) are there to make sure your meal at Le Meurice will be like none other. This comes at a hefty price, but it’s no surprise. A set menu for lunch costs between 85 and 130€, while the à la carte selection for dinner can add up to 300€ per person.
