Intro

A very creative and original cuisine, that is what the Chateaubriand offers. When he came back from New York City, Inaki Aizpitarte, a wold famous chef, looked for a very traditional looking Parisian bistro in Paris with his associate Fred Peneau. And they found one in the 11th arrondissement. Today, it has become a top spot for fine dining, and reservations are therefore compulsory and are made between 3pm and 7:30pm for that same night.

Parisianist Tip: the restaurant accepts a maximum of 4 people without a reservation only after 9:30pm 

Food

Every morning, Inaki Aizpitarte, a Basque Country native, choses the best ingredients from carefully selected suppliers in order to prepare the menu of the evening, which inevitably changes every day. A unique menu is served for 65€ per person, and comes with a matching natural wine. At the Chateaubriand, it is not unusual to taste curious mixtures such as chocolate and celery. The dishes are constantly revisited in a natural and biological way and Inaki likes to play with flavors. Not one plate is the same at Châteaubriand.

Ambiance

At the Châteaubriand, the clientele is a wonderful mélange of Parisians and citizens of the world. People from different horizons come here to taste the mouthwatering creations of Inaki and therefore, the restaurant is quickly full and lively. The waiters, often young and trendy, are very professional and since they all speak English, they will be delighted to answer any of your questions.

Decor

A simple decor with wooden chairs and a school chalkboard hanging on the wall… Inaki truly wanted to preserve the spirit of the former Parisian bistro and even kept some of the elements, such as the counter and the red wine sign hanging above the counter. The tables are quite close from one another, which adds up to the warm and cozy ambiance of the Chateaubriand.

Conclusion

For Inaki, it is essential to feel at home in a restaurant. So if you are planning to taste tonight’s surprise dish at the Chateaubriand, why not have some friends tag along (just make sure you reserve!). But this lively restaurant is also a great place for couples who want to take a trip down delight lane.
