Why you will love it?

Merci is an astonishing concept store, but it is also a cafeteria that has fresh, healthy products. Between Bastille and République on the dynamic boulevard Beaumarchais, Cantine Merci is a little bit hidden but is definitely worth seeking out.

Our Insiders' Article

Merci was dreamed up by Marie France Cohen and her husband. A concept store with blooming success, Merci has also added a cafeteria in the vision of its creator: healthy food with an ethical conscience that respects humankind and the planet. The owners changed in January 2014, but the philosophy behind the cuisine has remained the same.

Terroir d'Avenir supplies La Cantine Merci with its ingredients, guaranteeing not only quality products but also ethically-sourced ones. Six salads, some soups, a risotto, and a Merci special: the menu changes daily according to the availability of fresh ingredients. The plates are simple and tasty, and you can even put together your own salad. To accompany the food, choose from an extensive beverage menu that includes homemade lemonade, organic and biodynamic wines from small producers, and homemade unsweetened iced tea. There is really something for everyone.

What comes as a surprise the first time you visit Merci is the incredible variety of clientele. Tourists, hip parisians, people who work in the neighborhood... At lunchtime you've got them all. With family or on a date, alone or with friends, there is an incredible mix of people that make the clientele impossible to define. You'll hear children's laughter and conversations in languages from all four corners of the globe. Customers are set at ease so quickly that it's hard to distinguish the regulars from the people who are just passing by. Plus, the international staff speak fluent English.

The Cantine Merci's decoration is perfectly in line with this concept store's recipe for success. Once you've settled into one of the long tables surrounded by hip design objects and large bay windows overlooking a beautiful garden, you'll realize you've landed in a one of a kind place. Even if the cafeteria is particularly lively and the display of dishes on the counter near the register are especially exciting, don't revert to childish giddiness and embarrass yourself in front of the beautiful, chic Parisians who are surely to be eating there too.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood, Merci is an unmissable stop. Cantine Merci is the ideal place for a break in the middle of a day of shopping. If you're looking for a balanced and healthy meal, lunch at Merci will do just the trick. Gourmands may also enjoy nibbling on a pastry after lunch when the place is calmer.
