Why you will love it?

On a barge named after a 19th Century painter whose last name means "happiness," moored alongside the impressive Alexandre III bridge, you can’t help but feel the joy that exudes from this extraordinarily quirky open-air bar. Enjoy! Parisianist.

Our Insiders' Article

The two newest additions to the Rosa Bonheur family, En Attendant Rosa (Waiting for Rosa) and the Rosa Bonheur sur Seine (Rosa Bonheur on the Seine) are as relaxed, lively and cheerful as their older sister at the Buttes-Chaumont. A project a long time in the pipeline, the barge was well worth the wait. Formerly the heart of festivities at the end of the 19th Century, then the Universal Exposition turned it into a cultural hub, the French capital became the home of open-air cafés and dance-halls before being it was over by cars. Then in 2012, when pedestrians reclaimed the banks of the Seine, the Rosa Bonheur sur Seine snapped up the chance to establish a new version of its popular outdoor lounge in the area.

If you’re feeling a little peckish, you can order some Serrano ham that would go perfectly with your glass of rosé. Still hungry? Choose from a selection of tapas such as rillettes, fig tapenade, artichoke purée, pelardon cheese from Cevennes, cured meats and much much more. For a reasonable price you can buy your (pre-packaged) tapas from the bar before getting back to the table and having to fight your friends to get a bite of this good, uncomplicated French cuisine. The Italian touch comes from a new addition to the menu – the homemade, wood-fire oven pizzas, a must try.

Weave your way through the maze of tables and customers to find yourself the perfect spot to watch the sun go down over the Parisian skyline. On the barge where the music is always funky, never tired, you will be swept along by the pretension-free wave of charm that can be found in all three bars in the Rosa Bonheur family. You will soon find yourself babbling away with the stranger sat at the next table as if you were old buddies. If you’re not up for drinking and chitchat, no problem! Why not challenge your friends to a game of table football or even throw some shapes on the dance floor? If you want to let loose your romantic side, sit yourself down on the pier to get the best spot to admire the sunset.

Inside the green and white barge, the décor is exquisitely simple. There are two enormous outdoors seating areas where white barrels have been transformed into tables and chairs, a table football table not to mention the swarm of people that fills the barge. Everything here reminds you of the old guinguettes (open-air bars complete with dance hall) and the Paris of the past. The most spectacular decorative element is the backdrop provided by the Seine flowing along beneath you and the magnificent bridge Alexandre III that was built for the Universal Exposition of 1900.

It’s the home of the hipster in this modern floating watering hole. You may come across a few hip young families, but it’s mainly the thirtysomethings, chilling out after work with a pint in hand, that haunt the Peniche Rosa Bonheur. Although this idyllic spot has a capacity of up to four hundred people, it’s always best to arrive early just to make sure you’re one of them!

At Rosa Bonheur, you can dance, sing, chat among friends, and even rub shoulders with the seagulls. Just like at its two older venues, the Rosa Bonheur sur Seine welcomes you as an old friend in a relaxed comfortable environment. A great night out guaranteed!
