The Paris Cocktail Week 2016, held between January 23 and 30, is a moment of discovery and new encounters. This year, the 50 participating bars will each propose 2 signature cocktail especially designed for the event. This is a great way to discover some very talented mixologists that will gladly talk about their passion. But the Paris Cocktail Week 2016 is not all about drinking! It's also about learning, with the new Paris Cocktail Week Academy held at the Grande Epicerie, and about food pairing, as restaurant are joining the fun.

Making the Most of it

First, go on the Paris Cocktail Week internet site and reserve your pass. This free pass will then give you access to several benefits such as rebates on the special cocktails. The pass is free, but most of the activities proposed during the Paris Cocktail Week are not.

During the 20th century, the cocktail bar was generally paired with luxury establishments and located in the very posh neighborhoods of Paris. But since the 2005, Paris has lived a cocktail revolution: the cocktail become a more popular drink and more and more French and international mixologists converge on Paris. Today, Paris is one of the world’s cocktail capitals, with a great creative spirit. It is this diversity and creativity that is being honored during the Paris Cocktail Week 2016.

  • The mojito is the most ordered cocktail.
  • The Bloody Mary was created in 1921 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. Mary Welsh, also known as Bloody Mary because of her temper tantrum, was none other than the wife of Ernest Hemingway. It is said that the latter asked the barman of the Ritz to create a cocktail that would leave no alcohol sent on his breath so that he could come home without the fear of getting his wife angry.
