Why you will love it?

The Paris Ferris Wheel (Grande Roue de Paris) is a ride you don’t want to miss during the winter months. Located on the Place de la Concorde, between the famous Champs-Elysées and the Tuileries Gardens, this 60 meter (200ft) high Ferris wheel has become a kind of Parisian landmark, with its glittering lights illuminating the night sky. But the best part, naturally, is the ride itself. You have a unique 360° view of Paris, with a bird’s eye view on the iconic Louvre Museum, Grand Palais and Champs-Elysées avenue.

Opens November 11th 2016 and closes May 15th 2017

Our Insiders' Article

Paris Ferris Wheel

This year, between November 13th 2015 and February 29th 2016, the Paris Ferris Wheel (Grande Roue de Paris) will illuminate the Place de la Concorde. While some traditional Parisians might complain that it blocks the view of the Historical Axis (the alignment between the Louvre, Champs-Elysées and Arc de Triomphe), it is nonetheless a great place to have a bird’s eye view of Paris.

How to make the best

Although the winter months are not the busiest months for tourism (aside from Christmas and New Year’s Eve), there is usually a line to ride the Paris Ferris Wheel. Generally, you won’t have to wait in line for more than 20 minutes during peak hours. You’ll have a better chance to hop inside the Paris Ferris Wheel without queuing if you come in the morning, during lunch hours or late at night.

The Story

The Paris Ferris Wheel was first installed on Place de la Concorde to celebrate the new millennium. Even former French President Jacques Chirac has taken a ride in the Grande Roue de Paris! This dismountable attraction has travelled the world (Bangkok, Amsterdam, Manchester, Antwerp to name a few cities) but always comes back to Paris for the winter months.
