Our Insiders' Article

The largest tank in France

Imagine standing in a hallway in near darkness.

The only light, the only movement, coming from behind the glass in front of you as sharks twist and turn and swim past tropical fish creating ripples and shifts in the light.

Even on solid ground and separated by a thick clear wall, you can feel their prowess and their beauty.

In the huge tank (the largest one in France) that measures 9.6 meters (31.5 ft) high and 33 meters (108 ft) wide you’ll find four different kinds of sharks: Nurse, Black Tip, Gray and Zebra.

These sharks are just one part of the exciting experience at the Aquarium of Paris.

10,000 fish and invertebrates, 25 sharks, a touching pool, 2 cinemas

The Aquarium of Paris is home to 10,000 fish and invertebrates, 25 sharks, a touching pool, 2 cinemas, as well as many regularly updated interactive activities for the whole family.

Everyone is invited to discover the inhabitants who are organized based on their geographical areas of origin. Maybe you’re first drawn to the octopus, on the way there you’ll get to pass by Carp, Sturgeon, Bass, and more.

You’ll see Balloon Fish and Butterflyfish and Piranhas and Angelfish and Minnows, just a few examples of the vast 450 different species present.

Imagine just standing there and seeing all of the fish swimming past you, behind coral reefs, threw shimmering seaweed.

the excitement of being immersed in a brilliant, underwater world

Tickets for the aquarium are valid all day so you have the option to leave for lunch, for example if you want to have a picnic in the next door Trocadero gardens, and then return to see more of the fascinating underwater exhibits.

There are also food options in the aquarium as well. Also offered in the aquarium are films on fish related subjects as well as workshops that visitors can participate in to enrich their experience.

No matter what you choose to do or how long you spend oohing and ahing inside the aquarium, you and your children will look back on this trip and fondly remember the excitement of being immersed in it’s brilliant, underwater world.

Museum is free for children under 3 years of age.
